About Video poker
Video Poker is a casino game which is based loosely on five-card draw poker. It is played on a computerized console which is in a similar size as a slot machine.
History of Video Poker
The first video poker machine became commercially feasible once it was more economical to combine a solid-state central processing unit with a television-like monitor. In the middle of 1970’s the earliest poker machines appeared, when the first personal computer was produced.
Video poker became more firmly established when SIRCOMA, which stood for Si Redd's Coin Machines, and which evolved over time to become International Game Technology introduced Draw Poker in 1979. Throughout the 1980s, video poker became increasingly popular in casinos, as people found the devices less intimidating than playing table games. Today, video poker enjoys a prominent place on the gaming floors of many casinos. The game is especially popular in Las Vegas locals, who tend to patronize locals casinos off the Las Vegas Strip. These local casinos often offer lower denomination machines or better odds.
Video Poker Variants
Several types of variants are available to play including: Deuces Wild (this is where a two card can be wild and the jackpot pays for four deuces or a natural royal); basic five-card draw; and multi-play poker (the player in this game starts with a base hand of five cards, additional cards are played from a different deck of cards with the base hand removed). In a game that offers no wild card, the player who has played five or six hundred hands per hour may receive a four of a kind, which averages one per hour. Days or weeks could actually go by before a player may receive a royal flush.
